Artless/Formless 2006    TRT 3:00 Artless/ Formless was shot in my studio at the end of my first year at Goldsmiths College. This was one of my first videos where I turned the attention from final product to the subject of making the process the piece of work. I became bored with the process of making art being concealed and decided to share a personal humorous tale that reveals to the audience why I am an artist.  I wanted to communicate to the viewer without using words. It’s a little like slapstick because of the sped up motion. It's inspired by Bruce Nauman's early video works of things you do in the studio.  45 second extract © COPYRIGHT ALEX STAIGER.
